Our school has a long tradition dating back to the 1960’s, when the first vocational trade school appeared in Pribram. In 1970 the school integrated with the vocational clothing school, which had existed since 1950. For 10 years the school worked within the RaJ Pribram Company and since 1990 it is an independent legal subject.
Secondary comprehensive school HPOS concentrates on a demanding sphere of services. It keeps traditional classes finished with a vocational certificate, which are still in demand but it also meet the requirements of a growing number of pupils who want to gain a complete secondary education in catering, trade and services and finish with a maturita (A-level) exam.The school also has partners abroad, it co-operates with a prestigious French school in Nancy, and we hold “Days of Czech cuisine” in , and “Days of French cuisine” are also held in the , our students and apprentices can also have part of their practical training in Nancy. When the students are in , they take part in various gastronomic occasions during open days at the school in Nancy.
An integral part of the school work is the preparation for various functions including banquets and lectures for individuals or establishments such as companies and schools, both basic and secondary. Catering school pupils can also work in the top hotels in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) andPrague, and together with our cooks, waiters and confectioners they can also work at functions held by catering companies all over the for many prominent customers. Our window dressers also take part in vocational competitions, and in co-operation with their teacher they do classroom decorating, window dressing for shopkeepers and decorations for kindergartens and basic schools, they also offer their products for Czech traditional celebrations, Easter, Christmas and All Saints day and also for Valentines day.
For all the pupils in classes finished with a vocational certificate, competitions are held in school and the best can take part in national or even international competitions such as GASTRO inHradec Kralove or GASTRO in Podebrady, or barkeepers and window dressers competitions in Pilsen, the best of them are awarded certificates from the Economic Chamber in Prague.
Our school is a member of the Czech Chefs and Confectioners Association, the Bakers and Confectioners Enterprise Association also the Local Economic Chamber in Pribram and the Catering Schools Association.These organisations hold a lot of lectures, seminar meetings and excursions, and our students and teachers also attend them.
