Fields of study with leaving exam (GCSE).

Hospitality

Four-year regular study 65-42-M/01

Course characteristics:
Study Hotel and Tourism (formerly the Hotel School) is designed to prepare secondary-educated professionals for a wide range of hotels and other tourism services.The study is completed with graduation exam; students will complete secondary education and may apply for admission to college or university.

Curriculum of the practical training:
Practical training involves two basic forms:
1) the teaching practice – is reflected in the curriculum of the number of weekly teaching hours and may be combined into multi-day units
2) professional experience – at least two weeks (number of weeks from 2 to 4) continuously or divided according to operational needs. Part of the professional practice can be carried out during the holidays.

Selection of the department is approved by the headmistress. Completion of a professional practice is a condition for ending of the school year. ISŠ HPOS currently provides practical training with the Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary, Pyramid Hotel Prague Top Hotel Prague. The practical training is also carried in an attractive environment of Prague Castle, Prague Exhibition Ground, various palace buildings, etc..
Provision of social events that are held for their clients by Prague catering company

Application in practice:
Graduates can work in commercial, trade and economic positions in hotels, catering companies, travel agencies, accommodation, spa and recreational facilities.
They can work for example as receptionists, operations managers, technicians, supervisory staff, agency workers or entrepreneurs etc.
Options for further study:
Graduates are prepared to study at a higher vocational school or college.

– Very good elementary school results
– Fulfilling the conditions of admission to secondary schools
– Successful passing of entrance examinations (see criteria)
– Appropriate social behaviour and manners
– Good health


Tourism

Four-year regular study 65-42-M/02

Course characteristics:
Field of education with a graduation is designed as a vocational school branch, which prepares graduates for various activities related to satisfying the needs of tourist. Theoretical education is organized in a traditional way. It is supplemented by practical component of teaching, which uses the methods of group instruction and student projects. Specific application of theoretical knowledge is allowed by training tours not only within the region.
Continuous practice is in the 2nd – 4th grade in service facilities for tourism – in the operation of catering, accommodation, transport, intermediary, guide or fact-finding workplaces. The headmistress approves the selection of the workplace.

Application in practice:
Graduates can work as a staff of travel agencies, accommodation facilities, recreational centres, tourist centres in the region, organizing workers in the spa facilities, as well as receptionists or they can run their own business.

Options for further study:
Successful graduates can continue their study at a higher vocational school or college.

Businessman

Four-year regular study 66-41-L/01

Course characteristics:
The study lasts four years, the preparation includes theoretical and practical training. General education courses allow students to identify patterns of all-round development of society. They study one, and from the 3rd grade, also a second foreign language.
Vocational subjects, vocational training and work experience are focused on the acquisition of professional knowledge (economics, business operations, advertising, accounting and administration operations) and professional skills in business and sales.

Professional training:
Vocational training is primarily held in workplaces with different kinds of goods under the guidance of experienced instructors.
The task of training is to teach the students to respect rules of hygiene and safety at work and costumer protection, handling of goods, technology of sales, dealing with customers, business partners, etc.
Students are taught to know the administration of the trading and accounting practices in business. Vocational training takes place in the chain stores of Kaufland and Ahold companies.

Application in practice:
Graduates are prepared to carry out organizational and operational functions of a commercial character – self-manage and work in retail, wholesale, public, cooperative and private enterprise in firms and companies engaged in international trade, organization of fairs as well as sales exhibitions.

Admission Requirements:
– Good results at school
– Fulfilling of the conditions of admission to secondary schools
– Successful passing of entrance examinations (written test in the Czech language and literature, mathematics and test of general knowledge)
– Good health (no defects of the spine, musculoskeletal system, heart and vascular diseases, without seizure states).
